Four charged in fresh price fixing probe
British Airways has come under fire after it was announced that four of its senior executives are facing charges relating to price fixing.
The men, all of whom could face a prison sentence of up to five years, are accused of “having dishonestly agreed with others to make or implement arrangements which directly or indirectly fixed the price for the supply in the UK of passenger air transport services by BA and Virgin Atlantic” between July 2004 and April 2006.
Among the accused are the company’s head of sales Andrew Crawley, and ex-commercial director Martin George.
The charges have been brought by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), who has already fined BA £121.5 for colluding with Virgin Atlantic on fuel surcharges during the same period.
BA said that the swindle had affected around 11 million of its customers.
