The Week That Was
The week that was: 22 July 08 - 29 July 08
Politicians and big business didn’t appear to having too much joy so across the pond people are looking to another source of inspiration in an attempt to lower oil prices – god. And after last week’s respite maybe the group that likes to call themselves Prayers at the Pump is having the desired impact. Procurement Leaders doesn’t have a list of members but wouldn’t be surprised if it contained some high profile CPOs.
Figure of the week – 27.04% - The current inflation rate in Vietnam, bad news for locals – and big business.
As any regular visitors to our website will know, business travel has been one of the major victims of the current slowdown. But a word of advice for those still jetting around the globe – don’t worry about a pre-flight shower if you’re heading first class with Emirates in a few years time. Those lucky enough to experience life in the posh seats of the new A380 will get the chance to shower at 43,000 feet, although you may need slightly less-longer lathering than usual. A traffic light system would let passengers know how long they have left so, as Emirates President Tim Clark told gathered journalists: “If you’re on amber and your hair’s full of shampoo, you want to get a move on.” You’ve been warned.
